What are the barkbusters of choice? What do you recommend?

I value my fingers enough to run bark busters, I need them to work to pay the bills (same idea goes for protective gear in general for that matter) .
Like Inda said it's not like I plan to run into tree or fall on the ground, but **** happens...

it's all about personal preference and budget... you can go as cheap as 30 bux for the plastic ones that will last about ... 1 crash, or go with something better made of metal...I think you can get some fairly cheap around 40 or so.
Then you have the bar mount or triple tree mount to choose..etc

Well, I plan to stay away from trees. Sort of like gravel in a curve on a paved road.
I see things like "single trail" and what they really mean is "blaze your own trail"
That's called "trials".
That's not fun to me, paddling with my feet and having tree branches slapping me in the head.
I saw a video of a guy getting hung up on a vine.
I have to admit, that was sorta funny.
It was like a snare trap.
I bought a KDX250 for a little change of pace. I've got a 250, 480 and 500 besides the KDX.
I got all of that explorer stuff out of my system over 35 years ago.
When I hear the term hare scrambles, I immediatley picture mud.
I can't help it.
However, mud is the great equalizer. It doesn't matter how good your bike is, your technique is the only thing that seperates riders.
If I go that deep in the woods, I'll have a chainsaw in my hands!

I don't have bark busters on the bike yet but they're next on my shopping list....I jammed my finger between the clutch lever and bar when I hit a tree in one of the tight sections...I didn't break it but it's swollen up pretty good.

As far as the mud...we'll I don't go out for trail rides and look for that sorta thing...I usually try and avoid it...I don't like repacking bearings...but when you're in an actual race you forget about everything but trying to be faster than everyone else and the conditions don't matter as much...I just love racing bikes...any type on any surface! :supz:

Hey, Malcolm is like that. He used to race everything.
But, he doesn't like the dust and heat in the desert.
Like I said, I guess I'm finally an old fart!
It's early and I'm working on some coffee, I'll search for that cam video of Devils Ridge. You guys have to see it.
It's got mud!

Those are fine, but I prefer them with the deflectors. Would never run a set of the simple MX roost defelctors, gotta have a metal bar.

These are the ones Inda and I mentioned.

I'll 3rd Tusk! I have them on my KDX with modified factory plastics and they work great. I also put a set on my boy's TTR125L with the Tusk plastics and they are holding up great.
