Most people will let off the throttle while doing that....

Exactly! Works great, especially if you are standin up, going fast while maneuvering through stuff. Or sitting down. Let off the gas, go up or down a gear, and keep on cruising!

Unless you're battling for position in a race there is no reason to do WOT shifts. At least let off the throttle first.

IMO clutchless shifts are fine as long as they're off-throttle.

Not really on the same topic, but On some bikes, when shifting down, it helps to blip the throttle right before you chop it and shift,

Really helps getting into 1st on my Strom while I'm still rolling

I do the same as wibs described on all my bike, got into the habits of blipping the throttle to reduce engine braking on my thumper when shifting down. Dunno if it's good or bad habits but that's what I do.

Helping upload your trans to 'sync' it is always a good thing. Sync is a bad term in the case when talking about constant-mesh transmissions. 'heping to unload the driveline' would be a bit of a better term?

Using the clutch is a must for WOT shifting unless you install a momentary ignition kill (common on shifter karts integrated into the shifter handle itself). Timing is crucial. If done properly the only thing you should be hard on is your clutch, and top-end of motor(overrevving). Hope you have changed out the piston in this 220. If you do it wrong you can expect broken trans pieces, shift forks, etc.

Yep. All it takes is one missed WOT shift to destroy the transmission. Use the clutch if you're doing WOT shifts. I think it's faster to just ease up on the throttle and shift.
