Brake light

Post by chriszeee »

Need some advise on installing a brake light onto the kdx(2005 220). Like most of us due to the trails system here we are now forced to run the roads to get to the next trail.I was able to get it blue plated( thanks to a friend and a bit of cash) Anyway i would like to hook up a brake to the bike. Has anyone done this..I would like to keep the stock look if possible!

Yes... all you need is a Nissin hydraulic switch and a dual element socket.

They are $20 from http://www.kevinscycleracing.com/

If you choose to install it on the rear mc, it will interfere with the frame bracket for the reservoir. I even looked at the "right angle ones", but they were no better.
I cut off the reservoir bracket, rotated the reservoir 180 degrees, and am securing the reservoir on the back of the frame guards.

Any photos of this installed?

What about a simple wiring diagram?

Thanks!

Uh... not really. I didn't think it was a noteable install or anything. It was hitting the frame so I added a couple of washers inbetween the cylinder and the frame. This gave me enough clearance... The wires on it just make a connection to power when the pedal is depressed.... nothing hard about it at all....

I modified mine over the winter, moving the brake reservoir, and right afterwords found a low profile switch. This may work.

Good find. Looks cool.

Double check the banjo size for your application.
