Def swap forks. you will spend less in the long run if you just do the swap instead of new springs, valving and the end up swapping forks anyway.

The difference for me was incredible. I did no work on the stockers though.

Another thing to consider is the underhang on the stock forks. If you ride in deep rutted terrain or big rocks, the stockers tend to hang up. I had problems with that, so changed to KX forks. As others have said though you can improve the stockers a great deal by putting good springs on and real oil. I did that and the difference was huge. I didn't mess with the valving at all though.
