Had a friend forget that he stuck a rag in the carb while he was cleaning the filter

Worst of it was it was during the filming of "Get Lost: Oregon"

Take the air cleaner out, spray a carb cleaner in there & see if it starts. If you put an freshly oiled filter on a bike, it can cause problems at times. The filter could have had excess oil that got sucked into the carb & is plugging things up.

I don't think I'd be spraying carb cleaner into the mouth of a 2-stroke carb.

To err on the side of caution, I'll pull the air filter and try to start her. I'll hold off on carb cleaner for now. Maybe between that and draining the carb, it'll go and I can rev it til my neighbor comes over....

Find out if you have a spark first, then you will no if is fuel or carb related

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!

Removed air filter (Moose Racing, relatively new and recently cleaned and oiled), played with throttle position while kicking....

Heard rumblings of ringding life, kept kicking.....

After a minute or two, started and died.

Started again and filled my garage with a beautiful and delicate haze of blue two stroke smoke. Rode around yard, replaced filter and walked away.

Waited 30 minutes, snuck back up on it and it fired right back up.

Thanks to all of you who provided wisdom and expertise.
If we ever meet, the first cold beverage is on me.

YeHAWWWW. I"m riding again.

Life is good.

Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke I started her up on my lunch break today. Two kicks and she was running.

Thanks again for all the help everybody. I think I'm really going to enjoy this bike.

I guess I'll go ahead and order the Wiseco piston kit as well.

Hi I would say that its electrical, I have found that KDX starts well all the time with choke or without .I once had a TE610 husky the only way to start that was to open the twist grip 5 or 6 time, to flood the carb no choke after about 20 times on the button it would fire up and you then had to give it full choke.I glad to say the KDX is far better. Look at the spark and if thats good have a look at the pilot jet on the carb and have a look at the air screw.
If she ran and then stopped running It must be some thing blocked or broken.
Hope that you get it running soon I found jetting to be a real issue with mine and almost gave up and was ready to sell it,once I stopped messing around with it and went back to the factory setting it was much better.
