pipe dent

Post by scheckaet »

I have these 2 big dents in the expansion chamber on my FMF.
I emailed the guys at piperepair.com and he said they were for clearance.
Can anyone confirm they really are for clearance? I don't see the same dents on the procircuit one (i know different pipe  ). Or even better show me a picture.

This will be for my KX hybrid build, and it seems to clear the kips, radiator... just fine (even if there was no dent), any benefit from removing the dents?

Thx

One is for clearance... don't know about the other one but it won't hurt anything anyway.

Yeah, the bigger one was factory clearance, the smaller one looks like home made clearance. Like Inda said, it won't hurt anything, just go with it.

Thanks guys

Yeah, one was definitely "homemade" ("sympathy crash") and the whole pipe is tweaked, nothing lines up too good, the worst part is the header, got a small dent and the tube is crushed a little (it's more oval than round).
I'm thinking about sending it to get it back in shape, it'll be easier to fit it to the hybrid, and I'll know where the pipe mount really line up and see whether or not I need to move some of the mount on the frame before I sent it to media-blasting and powder-coat.
