Exhaust pipe collar for 220

Post by johnyblaze »

I'm looking to trade my FMF silencer for a stocker (already in the garage and waiting) to match up with the FMF Gold series Burly pipe that I'll be keeping.

Looks like the PO bodged something together at the pipe/silencer junction and made it work... but I like something a little more purpose-made.

What do you guys recommend and where can I get one?

Thanks in advance

Got any pics, not sure I understand what you're talking about

I use Gates Green Stripe radiator hose and a couple clamps

Absolutely does not leak.

I wrap mine with a piece of inner tube and a couple hose clamps. Doesn't leak.

Yeah, it WAS a poor description. Sorry. I should have said - how do you clamp your pipe and silencer together?

I'm surprised the innertube rubber and radiator hose don't melt. The 2 clamps makes more sense - PO has just 1 clamp and it looks like it might all fall apart or blow exhaust out the sides.

BTW, I hope the stock silencer is more quiet than the FMF. I likes 'em stealthy.

Thanks guys.

stock is quieter than FMF, and there's no re-packing required
Inner tube or hose with clamps will work just fine. I used zip ties and no problem.

Yeah the inner tube works great. It melts just enough to seal to the pipe really well. 2 stroke pipes do not get all that hot, especially not out at the end of the stinger. Zip ties do just fine too. I've used them plenty, but have hose clamps on there right now because that's what was handy last time I had the pipe off and back on.

Are you still looking for a silencer? If so, what type of shape is your FMF in?

Already have the stock silencer. $35 shipped in new condition. Man, people just can't wait to get that stocker off.

The FMF silencer I'm replacing has a mild bend (upwards at the rear) to match the broken rear fender. Both are the result of a wheelie gone wrong by the PO. I'll keep it in case the next owner wants it to match the pipe.
