Drill baby, drill...

What's the scoop on drilling extra air holes in the
air box lid? ('92 KDX 200)? I've read opinions
that range from just removing the snorkel to tossing
the lid completely.

How, if at all, does this affect jetting if at all?

Thanks

i got the gnarly woods pipe and tossed the snorkel and drilled holes in the lid and i was AMAZED at the difference...never touched the stock jetting.

Removing the lid or snorkel mostly just makes more noise

I never liked it, so I put vents in my lid

Filter stay cleaner for much longer

I liked this so it is what I did too.

Every time I clean my bike after a muddy ride (lots of that lately) there is mud on the top of my airbox. I did not like the idea of that getting into the airbox...

If your jetting is perfect with the lid on (which if you're asking the question it most likely is not) then you would need to richen up. Most people are rich already so the extra air will clean your jetting up some.

I was thinking of putting a Scotch brite pad over the lid just to keep chunks out.

That's a cool idea!

It seems porous enough as log as the abrasives don't somehow get past the
air filter... I can't imagine they would but who knows.

I think it would work great.
