200 carb in my 220?

I was wondering if there would be any benefit from putting a stock 200 carb in place of my 220 stocker? I eventually want to get rb to work mine over, but till I do would the 200 carb give any perfomance gain? I also just got a wiseco piston after some good advice from the forum. I am about to put a gnarly desert on and i am running a p/c 304. I was wondering if while I was putting the piston in if getting the head mod from RB would be a good idea at this point.
I also want to say thanks from someone that has been off the bike for 24 years it is nice to have such a wealth of knowledge to help get me back up to speed figuratively and literally. Thanks for all the great advice.

I changed my 220 to a 200 carb, added boyssen reeds and a desert pipe.
It made a major improvement to the top end.

Thanks Doc. Did it take away from your bottom end at all. What did you do with your jetting? Was the 200 carb stock? were the reeds the 607's?

The 220 benefits a great deal from the RB head work. you really should send the carb along with it to save on shipping and down time. These two mods are practically mandatory for the 220.

if you're replacing your piston (great idea  ) I'd send the head to ron at the same time since it's all torn open...

When I got the 200 carb it was jetted at 160, 48. I worked my way down on the jets until I went too far and I think I ended up at 152, 42 on the jets, clip up one (needle form 220 carb moved down). Bottom end was still there but the top end really expanded. The reeds are 607's. I agree that the head and carb mods might even provide more and I might go there at some point, but I am really happy with the changes I made.

I think the best bang for the buck on the 220 is the head mod.
Still $45? That's a really cheap date.

The 200 carb with the head mod would be fine. You could then send your 220 carb some other time.
