Bad fuel pinging - cant buy good fuel question

Post by Neesmo31 »

Hey all firstly i run my 99 KDX200 on 40:1 Motul, using BP ultimate 98 octane. Where i ride i cant get high octane fuel until im back in town. Is there a way to mix/alter fuel to stop it pinging

* note last time i fuelled up at this particular servo i couldnt wind the gas on too much as it was pinging. Soon as i put ultimate back in the tank it went away.

Thanks for your help.

Could probably try some Toluene

We usually run it 32oz to 5 gallons of premix

Sounds like you might have a carbon build up on your head or piston top. Check your timing as well too. New plug? I like the iridium plug myself, they are pricey but seem to work better than any I've used before.

Really?

Tried one on my KDX, fouled really quickly

I think I've fouled 3 plugs since I've had my KDX, 2 B9RES and one BR8EIX

Seem to work good on the Vstrom though

I tried an Iridium and didn't care for it either... I like the BR8ES's... never had one problem.
