Advancer Shaft Removal

I'm trying to the the cylinder off and I can't get a good grab on the bolt behind the advancer shaft. Will removing the little phillips head free up the shaft for removal? Will anything drop into the cases?
The manual doesn't even mention to remove the shaft!

Why would you have to remove it?

The nut on the cylinder is unreachable with a wrench or socket. The frame or the shaft is in the way.

Too scared to stick a 12 point on it. Maybe I should go out and buy a 6 point wrench.

I use an offset 12 point closed end wrench....
Take that clutch cable loose too and get it out of your way.

I need a set of these in metric flavor...
I ran out to sears and they were closed. Just my luck. Going to the bar instead.

Ha, you posted while I was doing 65 in a 35 trying to get to sears before 9. Too bad they close at 8.

BTW, If it is anything like an E you have to take the cover off to remove the shaft.
Once the cover is off your problem is solved
Just watch the shifter return spring and kicker spring when you go to put it back together

I'm gonna buy a set of offset wrenches. I love having a reason to buy tools!
How can you possibly torque that bolt on reassembly?
Thanks guys.

Use the hand torque wrench

I use the torque wrench on the nuts I have access too and then put my box end wrench on them and feel how much force it takes to move them and then I apply about that much force on the nut I can't get the torque wrench on. Once you have gone around them a time or two they should all be torqued about even.
