Axle cap studs...172G0622

Post by canyncarvr »

The 6x22 description has nothing to do with the length of the stud.

They measure 30mm (give or take a smidge) in length.

About $.60/ea. from RonAyers.

Get a couple for your spares bucket.

...or use a torque wrench (set correctly) or properly calibrated elbow when you wrench on the things!!

**edit**
KX fork'ers need not apply!

Brought this up in reference to earlier comments concerning this PN. There was a question regarding the '22' part of the PN.

The 22mm figure is how far it sticks out of the hole, so technically it does have something to do with the length of the stud, just not the total length as most of us used to think. Another lime green mystery was solved.

Where'd that idea come from?

Whoever measures a fastener by how far it sticks out? (**edit** Come to think of it, some fasteners ARE measured by how far they've stretched..so I guess the key here is to tighten'm into the fork until they stick out 22mm! After use, if they stick out 22.1 or greater, replace 'em!)

You had to've made that up!!

**edit**

No..I didn't follow that thread to that point. Still, that method of description/measurement is something I haven't seen before. Doesn't mean it's not a common practice.

You must not have followed up on the other thread?? I measured a stud in my cylinder that stuck out the amount listed on the buykawasaki diagram, and I think someone else measured one of theirs for the fork stud.
