What type of product do you use to clean all the carbon on the top of the piston, or the oil in the kips assembly.

Yamaha Combustion Chamber Cleaner is probably the best
Berryman's B12 is another the works well

Kerosene does a fair job..and it's not as volatile-nasty as paint thinner.
What are you cleaning the top of the piston for? Just to see that part number? Sandpaper will work for that.
