When i went to pull the fuel line off this elbow came off my petcock, did I break it? what holds this elbow in place?
Anyone else experience this?

Take a look at an online fiche..like RonAyers.

I don't know what 'elbow' means...my bike doesn't have an 'elbow'.

There are some parts listed for the petcock.....

My 89 has an "elbow" piece. It comes out of the back of the petcock and and the fuel line goes onto it. There seems to be nothing to hold it in there, and there is no room for a snap ring of any sort. I have never understood the design myself. Mine is currently held in place by a zip strip....

He notes having a '96.

I had looked up an 'H' model..which showed no elbow. Just looked specifically at a '96..same thing.

Seeing as it happened during fuel line removal, I suppose it is the hose nipple, which, if it can't be re-placed and swaged IN place will require replacement.

...maybe it could be soldered in. Brazed?

The whole mess, PN 51023-1214 is $40 at RonAyers.

Its crazy, I dont understand what held the elbow in there in the first place, maybe it was pressed in, anyway I'm going to scuff it up and try to use some sort of gasoline proof locktite/glue. I'll try to get a photo so I can show you what I'm talking about.

your picture reminds me that I had the same problem on mine. Its a press fit on the E series bikes and has a ridge the elbow rides on the keep it in place and seal it. Ended up cleaning mine up and coating liberally with JB Weld and then sliding in rotating to insure even coating and placed it in the location that I wanted the hose to exit. Still good to go years later.

After that coating before and the assembly, fashioning a bit of a cove around the fitment (as space allows) would be good.

It does look to be the sort of thing that should 'glue up' pretty good.

Good luck!

It is a press fit fit in the fuel valve. Mine came out also when I was cleaning the valve. Just take a small heavy hammer and press it back in there. It'll stay, mine does.

How 'bout touch up the part that fits inside with a tapered tool..like a punch of the correct size.

Wouldn't take but a bit of a nudge to spread it a liddle bit.

He's prolly already done with it by now. I'm sure the 'after' pic is in the mail!!!
