UFO Rear Fender Tail Light Wiring Help

Post by sthutch »

For Christmas, my wife got me a new UFO rear fender with a tail light. My question is, how do I wire it? The UFO tail light has 3 wires and my '01 KDX200 has two. Which wires go where?

I haven't had a bike since 1980 and my knowledge of electricity is extremely limited. Thanks for any help.

Uh...what IS 'green' and why is it tied to two wires?

The only thing there is likely TWO of in a taillight assembly is filaments (or LED groups).

...and you don't want to tie those two things together.

Unless you want BOTH filaments (or LED groups) 'on' at the same time.

And..you don't.

Of course...this doesn't have anything to do with:
The UFO tail light has 3 wires...

...and directions of what to do with FOUR of 'em...red, black, yellow, and white.

How about pick a filament (the lesser bright of the two..or, if LEDs, the fewer of the two..if both the same number..then just PICK one), that goes to the hot lead on your bike (the one to the nubbin of the bulb) and whatever other wire that makes it WORK when grounded goes to....uh...ground!!!

It came with NO instructions or diagrams?

I know it's been a couple years since you posted this, but my search brought me to this thread and it helped me out today.
Thanks.
