Can plastic be fixed?

Post by bezoar »

Snapped plastic on head lamp/ number plate flange where it bolts to the frame. Is there any type of glue that will hold this.......or should I just fork out the $92 for a new one?

You might could plastic weld it by melting either plastic welding rods or a plastic fork to melt the break back together..

I used a wood burner from a wood burning kit and melted a plastic fork into a break on a fairing of a kawi EX500 and it held tight as long as I had the bike.

Other option would be to drill holes on each side of the break and stitch the break up with zip-ties frankenstein style :supz:

I prefer bailing wire myself

I use my high speed Dremel tool to make the holes

They cover it with a good layer of epoxy or Goop

I've used Gorilla Glue and fiber glass cloth before with pretty good results on a ripped rad cover

I would post a pic, but don't know how. Not really much to look at. On the upper right back of the number/headlamp plastic is a 3 inch plastic tab that the brackets bolt onto. This tab broke off at the base.
