rear axel nuts sizes
Quick question...Are the nuts 22mm & 27mm or are they both 27mm on the rear axel ?

There is only one nut.
You want to know what size tool/wrench fits on both sides of the installed axle? On the nut side and on the axle itself I presume?
They are not the same. The nut itself is a bit over an inch....'cuz I use a 1 1/8" or something close, so 27mm sounds right...and the axle itself is close to 22mm. I know it's LESS than an 1".
Online parts fiches do not list the outside diameter of the nut.
If you're interested in a correct answer and no one that knows speaks up, I'll measure it when I get home.

If you tack weld the left snail (like they come on an "E") to the bolt head you won't have to worry about it spinning

Sorry...I'm still not sure what you're after.
When you crank on the 27mm nut, the axle will turn. Surely you know that 'cuz it's happened to you.
SOMEthing has to hold the axle from turning/spinning when you try to put 70ft.lbs on the axle nut.
What that something is, is what it is. You can use a pair of pliers, an adjustable wrench, drill a hole in the axle 'nut' and stick a screwdriver in it....
You will need SOMEthing to hold the axle....like a tack weld on the snail (which then puts the tightening force to the nut on the snail and swingarm pin)...or a tool.

True. You don't have to hold the full 70ft/lbs applied to the nut.
We'all kind'a knew that...right?
