double post?

Well, to the op...

Since you're game to fix it, I'd look for a set of cases second hand in good condition. After that, rebuild as normal going through bottom and top end. I'd do the same if it were my bike. Why do I wanna shop for another when I love what I got?

Yeah...but it won't leak. Have a little faith!!

Of course the preferred option would have been for Ms. Piston to keep her skirt on in the first place, but we're not in Virginia any more.

The guy says he can weld it...so go for it! What is there to lose?

Nothing in my bike......

Is it fixed yet?

Anyway, assuming you can fix the cases you're looking at....

Welding case
Rod kit ~90
main bearings seals ~50
wiseco piston kit ~130
replate cylinder ~200 (if you're lucky)
Labor for crank rebuild ~60

If you can split the cases and do the rest of the work yourself, you can get out pretty cheap. A shop is going to charge you a few hundred, easy.

RB designs rebuilds cranks for $35.

Right. And I guess you're gonna ship it there and back for free?

Like I said. Around $60 by the time it's said and done, whether you do it locally or send it off.

It doesn't even cost ME $25 for shipping to RB and I'm in Canada. Try $10-$15 for the US folks.

Right. Is this coming down to simple math?

$10 shipping crank to RB (good luck getting it there safe for $10, but I'm being generous here)

$35 labor to rebuild

$10 - $20 to ship it back? No, Ron does not ship it back for free.

Does that add up somewhere near $60? Would it make you feel better if I said it would be somewhere around $50?

Someone's always gotta be a wiseass.
