When I was a kid I noticed the tang on the end of my dad's tape measure was loose....it slid back and forth! To rectify the obviously soon-to-fail rule, I peened the loose rivets tight. Neat! I done good!!

What did my dad have to say about my fixit job?

'Now you can buy me a new tape.'

Completely btw...but do you know why he was correct?
I can, but it was only after I'd been in the construction trade for a couple of months before I figured it out. ! Holy Spooge Batman....finally a question on KDXRider.net that I can answer

Oh.....and Castor 927 in 32:1 just because I like the way it smells :supz:

...maybe his dad could not afford a new tape?

So that both inside and outside measurements are accurate.

Bingo! It compensates for the width of the tang.

Re: 'Juliend instructs me to have multiple unrelated questions in the same thread. You want me to use separate threads. When I went to separate threads before, Juliend was not happy. So, I am happy either way. Let's arrive at one consensus going forward please.... '

Yeah...he did.

I dunno...ask Juliend!

Forty different question in one thread you can see gets stuff mixed up. But then...forty different threads probably wouldn't go over real well either.

Let me think about it for maybe 15 years..and I'll get back to you on it.

I did miss the part about the loose shifter. Good job Karl!

Re: 'You did not ask about mix ratios? The BEST transmission oil?'

I happen to know all about that...but just 'cuz I read it somewhere recently..but can't quite recall where that was...... Gimme a good 15 years to sort that one out, too.

Wait Wait...I remember! I run the 'BEST' of all-a those, pre-mix/ratio/AND trans oil.

Man. I'm good. That didn't even take TWO years!!!

There's hope for me yet..regardless of what <some> say! I kin see the light at the end of the tunnel...........probably a locomotive heading my way.
.
.
.

And..Yessirree Bob on the tape. The amount of movement in the tang is the same as the thickness of the tang (and whatever offset there is in the actual tang angle..usually a little bit to help it 'grab' edges on outside measurements...which can in fact be made INside! ).

Holy Spooge Batman indeed!!!

Wow Canyncvr.

With all due respect, sounds like you need a good lay (or 3).

Stick that sucker in and shout!

OK boys.

Re-routed the throttle cable and starterd her up - sounds much better - very happy.

Yes, I will still be getting the new cap, tube, etc...

Now, best threads for fine tuning the kdx220?

Re: 'Order of steps to fine tune this sucker?'

That said after you have read and researched into the matter...how much?

Seeing as there are books written on the subject..you would serve yourself far better if you asked something specific..that question indicating SOME effort having been expended on your part.

Byte,

I suggested that because you had about 12 threads on page 1 of these forums. How a bout slowing down and trying to tackle one problem at a time, this way it's not an issue to begin with?

I've had a look at the fiche and observe the clip but still cannot figure out what I clip onto...?? The steel sheath only butts up to the mouth of the bent tube and does not encase it so the clip cannot be used to wrap/tighten anything...

Are you missing a bit at the end of the bent tube?
The bent tube should be steel and threaded at the end that the throttle cable case ends. On that threaded end should be a brass adjuster and slot for a clip. The end of the cable case should go into that brass end and be held in place with a clip
hi boys.

parts recieved from usa just before xmas.....long wait.

ok - i know you have probably had enough of me and this thread but i need some further clarification on fitting this famous clip.

sure - feel free to vent and laugh and whatever...... i don't care.

after that, i would appreciate your input..

does the clip fit inside that groove on that brass adjuster (16002)?

how does the clip hold end of cable case?

thanks.
(merry xmas too!) :partyman:

You got this answered on TT, right?

Thanks Canyncrv.

Yes - solved finally.

I just was not too sure where that clip was supposed to fit in that groove -despite the fantastic contributions of yourself and others on this site and those of TT trying to assist me.

I understand I can be a pain and I am not doing this intentionally.

I am learning as I go along and if I make mistakes and piss people off in the process I am sorry.
