I have a very nice set of 1998 KX125 forks and a not so nice set of 2001 KX125 forks. My question is which should I use for my conversion. I read that the newer the better but does anybody actually know if the 2001's are much better then the 98's?

Thanks

The kx125 was updated in 1999.

Here are some revisions on the 1999-2002 forks compared to 1998:

"There are also several new aluminum components in the inverted cartridge front fork. The diameter of the outer aluminum fork tubes was reduced 2mm at the triple clamp surface to eliminate weight. Both the outer and inner tubes are strengthened and the overlap between the two tubes is increased for smoother action, especially during "slap-down" jump landings. New rubber dampers reduce harsh bottoming, and new axle clamps on the bottom of the fork legs offer more clamping rigidity on the lighter front axle. Several internal components changed to aluminum to reduce unsprung weight"

Not sure how big of a difference it will really make in the real world though.

They just look beat up and scratched compared to the 98 forks. the internals are probably ok.
