Dam Good NETRA Race on KDX200

I raced my first hare scramble today and had a blast. From some advice on here I ran in the Sportsman Division (beginners), which is basically the last row in C Class. I didn't want to get in the way of anyone racing for points or get run over.

I'm sure most of you got hit by the ran that just crossed the country but it hit here pretty good and the course was nasty! Like chocolate frosting on ice. Very slippery. Every wave of riders had two or three bikes on the ground in the first corner, second and third corner. The first 1/2 mile or so was feet-down-wheeling-spinning-counter-steering goodness. Not!

Anyway, once I got up in the woods I got in the groove and started picking off riders one by one. I had a couple slow sliding spills and some of those guys passed me back. So I got into the "slow and steady wins the race" mode and begin picking them off one by one again.

At the finish, I soon realized that I had placed first in my division (there were only 7 of us  )! When the final results came out I placed 67th of 85, so I beat a few of those C riders as well. Some may have DNF, but hey I still beat them to the finish.

All in all, I had a blast. I had no intentions of placing; really my goal was to finish and to not be in last.

oh and there were other KDXs there. Maybe only 5 but they stick out in the sea of orange!

So I should post some useful information here... um I got hungry mid race I thought I had eaten enough beforehand, but I felt like I had low blood sugar; like I needed a GU pack. So maybe carb load before the race and maybe a little less Cocoa Puffs

Thanks!
Here's a quick video.

There nothing like your riding buddies yelling "Throttle's on the right!" and "You're riding like a girl!" Hey I was racing; they were spectating! Maybe I need some new riding buddies

Man, that looks and sounds like my kind of fun. Ah, to be back East to ride again in real dirt and trees...one day. (sigh)

Mud and rain........The great equalizer.

Looks like it was hard work and fun!

It definately was tough in the chocolate frosting but very fun, overall.

I was blown away on how the A and B riders just laid on the gas and turned through this stuff. I thought about this a little and wondering why my class and I were spilling all over. Wheel spin. The A's and B's kept the rear wheel spinning; it never had a chance to collect mud. As I trudged through my rear wheel caked up turning it into a slick. It was just hard for me to think about going any faster through that stuff.

Good to hear you had a good time!

Uh...Cocoa Puffs ARE nothin' BUT carbs...well...and a bit of fat.

Simple carbs burn off fast.
