dx200a parts advice

Post by MattSA »

Hi guys!

Am here looking for some advice all the way from S.Africa.
I'm in the process of refurbishing a dx200a KDX 200, am just looking for some parts, assuming they are still available.

I need piston and rings, and possibly big and small end bearings.
Would anyone know where to start looking for these?

Parts are really limited this side of the world, so i do not mind ordering from the US or where ever.

Looking forward to you replies!

Thanks.

I don't know what a dx200a KDX200 is, but if the engine parts are the same as a US spec KDX200 You can get a Wiseco piston kit and wrist pin bearing at http://www.rockymountainmc.com I don't know if they ship overseas. The big end bearing may not be available there, but you could see if they have a hot-rods kit. which includes the rod. If you're replacing the big end, might as well replace the crank bearings and seals too.

DX200 is stamped on the engine case on the US KDX200's. Don't know about other models....

Where?

Have you (OP) looked online? Do ronayers or RMMC list it? Or...get the PN if you can from the Kaw site, google it, see where it comes up.

Unless, like CM said, you KNOW the spec (not only the bore, but the skirt length, pin position, all that) is the same.

Juliend is correct, its stamped on my engine casing. Its an 83 / 84 aircooled KDX 200.
I have done a bit of research, but i wasnt sure where to even start looking.
Best case would be to get the part numbers and go to the local kawa dealer and see if they can order ex japan.

Check for a vin number on the steering head and post that up for us.

DX200 is stamped on the bottom of the engine cases, down by the oil drain on the LH side. At least, it exists there on my 89 and 91 KDX200's.

I am nonplussed.

And now you do know...correct? Because I said earlier?

Again...go to kawasaki.com. Navigate to owner information, parts diagrams. Choose your model, get the PN.

The '83 piston PN is 13001-1160.

And, again, google that part number to find a number of places that have that piston: $83.83 from 'World of PowerSports' for example.

Wiseco doesn't list either a piston OR a piston kit. Not on the web anyway.

For those paying close attention, please note that the newer KDX200 (watercooled, 'H' for example) piston is NOT the same PN on the MaKaw site.
