If you chain is fairly new than you can change with no problem. We would change our rear sprocket (teeth #) all the time going from track to track on the same chain. I would lay my chain on it's side and pick it up to see how limp it was. A brand new chain you'll get a 8-12" arch while a worn chain will arch a half circle.

Only read anecdotally many times, but a 49T is supposed to fit fine with OEM guides, a 108L and either a 12/13..but a 50T takes 110L.
Don't matter...buy a 110L and take off a couple if'n it's not right.
Maybe what you really need is 109T.
