What is your recomendation for sprocket size combination for a KDX 220 with rev pipe?
I ride in tight woods trails with rocks, stumps etc. no tracks.
thanks

I havent purchased the rev pipe but i think i read that the rev pipe works better with the 220.Indawoods wrote:Why a Rev then?
I currently have a 200 with a gnarly torque pipe 12/48 sprockets and I love it. I just dont have much experience with the 220.
looking for all the advice I can get. I am actually installing the motor in a KX Hybid.

Sweet!
Yeah... I don't own a 220 and missed that part. I run a 13/50 combo and I think it is just right for anything on the 200.

I like the 13/47 combo on a 220 hybrid. I ran 13/49 for a bit because that was the sprocket size on the donor bike and thought it was no good.
I'd actually like to try a little taller gearing, 14/47 or 13/45. I find that I can get in this spot where 3rd is revving but it won't quite pull 4th.

If you're buying a new sprocket set, make the CSS a 13T..and fit the back to your preference.
I use 12/47..but the 12T CSS does wear a good bit. I keep it 'cuz there are times I want to put a 13T on..and a simple CSS change beats messing with the rear sprocket and possible chain length problems.
If I never changed it, I'd run 13/50.
There are gearing ratio gaps to consider. 3rd to 4th has quite a space to it, and if you're in KarlP's situation, you may want to tweak the final drive to get out of it.
The 12/47-13/50 being real close ratio-wise and the former working for anything that needs doing on a 200, I don't know why it wouldn't be just fine for a 220. Maybe a bit short. You might consider a range you're interested in that fits within a CSS change, try each to see what you like, next chain set buy the 13 and make the rear fit the ratio you're after.
