Are you/have you dual sported your KDX?
I'm getting ready to dual sport mine and was wondering how many others have done it or plan to do it?

Getting the thing tagged at the clerk's office is proving to be an adventure though

I haven't done mine yet but from what I hear it is real easy dealing with AZ Motor Vehicles on this. I have been told that most times they don't even inspect the bike. I think they are more interested in getting your money than if it is truly meets the street legal requirements.

All across America due to the EPA and the green movement, all motorcycles with "For off road use only" on the titles will be denied requests for road use. If your state hasn't done it yet.... they will or lose funding for and road projects. As a matter of fact, those bike that were previously licensed are now being revolked in some states.

I have a 2001 KDX and a 2001 KX500 that I added DS kits to and plated here in California before they closed the door on OHV converstions to MC status (31 Jan 2004). That date has to rank up there as one of the blackest days in history for us. I have since bought a 1999 KDX 220 that gets OHV status (Calif green sticker) only.Indawoods wrote:All across America due to the EPA and the green movement, all motorcycles with "For off road use only" on the titles will be denied requests for road use. With more and more riding areas closing and stiffer enforcment of street legal status in other areas, a plated bike is the best way to go here in California. Unfortunatley, out of state plated vehicles do not qualify for any transfer unless they meet the same CARB standards.
So if you want to buy a new ds bike that is really KDX-like and trail oriented, your choices are all kind of a compromise of one sort or another.
My advice is that if your state allows it, DO IT. If it's legit, they will not revoke it until it is not legit, and then a grace period for new registrations will have to be granted.

I tried to add that option but it didn't take for some reason.VirtualVarmint wrote:Where's the "Never!" option?
On the legality issue. Last I knew (as in two weeks ago) it is still legal to plate a smoker in the state of AZ. If it has changed I would be real disappointed. I don't own a pickup to transport my bike so riding it to areas to "ride" are my only option at this point.

Turn signals are not required in AZ. High/low beam, mirror, horn, tail and brake lights. Of course, plated and insured is a given.VirtualVarmint wrote:huh? I don't see a directional anywhere?
