lol - so you would need 2 XR400 clutch sets to do it?
then have some spares?

will keep my eyes peeled for the washers...

also sounds much easier (as CC has already posted elsewhere i believe) to lay the bike down horizontally.

good tip.

If you're buying parts by the available already packaged 'For XR' method, the answer is, 'Yes.'

Or...Fredette sells (used to) repackaged Vesrah plates FOR the XR..with the correct number of plates for the KDX.

...the XR has one less plate than does the KDX.

I do think you will find the job easier if you lay the bike down horizontally.

...as opposed to laying it down vertically, I mean.

Cheers!

How is this job going?

I don't think that center nut needs to be removed to change plates....Am I wrong?

There 'ya go...asking pointed questions again........

I didn't know why that question came up..but I didn't ask why, either. I figgered maybe he wanted to assemble the clutch on a bench or something.

But, no. You're not wrong.

Although I'd want to know the washer is behind the basket....

Just curious, would the XR400 clutch work on the older KDX '89-'94 "E" series bikes?

Good question. The answer to which I don't know is 'Yes', or 'No'.

Look up the OEM PN on an online 'fiche. If they're the same, you're good.

..which I don't think they are..but I don't know.
