Post by lemmy »

I need new rear wheel bearings and I ordered through pivot works, but they are out of stock. besides OEM, are there any other places I could order these and have them in 3-4 days?

They are a standard bearing and should be available at any bearing shop.

#6202RS ? Maybe?

Go down there with your old ones.

I looked on ron ayers and for the front wheel (which I know is a 6202 bearing) the description is #6202UC3. For the rear wheel the bearing description is 6004X8JR. So I guess it is a 6004 2RS bearing? What about the seals though?

all balls are pretty good dudes. Bearings from them seem plenty good too, I've put them in several bikes now.

This a day late and a dollar short....

For posterity:
...are there any other places I could order these and have them in 3-4 days?
Yes. CBR bearing. They sell bearings AND the seals that go with 'em. They are lifetime guaranteed. That doesn't mean they don't wear out. They do. But WHEN they do, CBR will replace them.

He sells quality bearings...no junk from China, a.k.a. All Balls. I've used bearings from both. Bearings from CBR easily outlast 'cheep' bearings...as in 4-6X as long.

To each his own. CBR bearings aren't cheap, and they're not junk. I consider the fewer number of times I need to pound a bearing out of my hubs, the much less likely I'll have a hub failure. Also, I don't want to start a ride with NO wobble in a hub, end a ride with a bearing failure. As fast as cheep bearing failure progresses, that is a possibility.

That's not conjecture. It's a matter of personal experience.

Again...to each his own.
