Anyone know off the the top of their head what the torque spec is for my flywheel nut?

not to tight and not to loose !!!seriosly, 47 ft. lbs. or 64 N-m if you are metric savvy.use a car oil filter wrench with some sandpaper around it to keep it from spinning.if the top end is off, use a con rod stopper.J$ out.

Not to be a nit about it..but spec is 88 nano metres...9.0 killergrams per metric or, in the real world, 65ft/lbs (which happens to equate exactly to three whacks of my impact gun, set to '3' @ 120psi).

...and CHECK to ensure the key stayed put after you put the rotor back on. Stick a piece of wire or straightened paper clip in the slot of the crank..make sure it stops when it hits the key. They slip out easily.


The clutch spring bolts? Only 78 INCH lbs.

Brilliant!!! This trick worked better than "in gear/rag in sprocket/up against a wall with brakes on"

canyncarvr...i hate to be a double nit, but i believe 128racecar asked for "flywheel nut" torque,not"clutch hub nut" torque.that spec IS in 5-14 section in the book.the flywheel nut torque is in section 14-10 top left of page.i'll take a crown and coke on that one !!!J$p.s. how far is it to jefferson from dallas anyway?

enjoy and post some pics and info on the bike.canyncarvr,at three hours and 220 miles i thought about taking you up on the double c&c. i thought rogue river was in louisiana at that distance so i looked at the map link you posted.but i am in dallas, texas, not oregon..thats 30 hours and 2000 miles. ill post you a pick of me drinking one instead and you do the same.the farthest east i have been is lordsburg new mexico.ride safe.J$

I am new, and have only rode for about year, I have a 1998 KDX220, is the flywheel nut the one that is on the side of the friction plates? I assume so since you put the specifications for the clutch spring bolts, but just want to be sure, and will the numbers be the same for my 1998 as the 03 talked about in this post?

CC was incorrect with his spec. He was referring to the clutch hub nut. The flywheel nut is on the left side of the bike under the plastic cover. The clutch hub nut will be on the right side of the bike under the clutch cover. (The cover with the clutch arm in it).

Any 95+ will have the same specs for torques. Might want to look into getting a manual tho.

Yea..i just spent all my christmas money on clutch plates, a new clutch hub, and a new shift lever. So trying to rebound from all the money i spent haha!

But, the 65ft/lb spec listed for the stated fastener is correct.
