i got an 01 kdx 220 and it has a fmf ganarly and a turbin core 2 silencer on it ;also it has the air box lid removed and a uni air filter installed. i am at about 200 ft above sea level. it has a number 160 main jet. does that sound in the ball park, is that the right jetting?

also after each ride there is a line of spoge or what ever u call it that runs about half way down the silencer is this normal or is the bike just a little rich, it runs good with no bogg.

also any tips on getting the carb. bowl screws off with out strippping them? them things are on there good!

A 160 jet is stock for the 200 35mm carb but would be really rich for a stock 220 33mm carb. Maybe the previous owner changed carbs to the 200 carb. Check the pilot jet. If it is a 48, then I bet that is what happened. You can try a leaner main jet 158 or 155, but it is all trial and error until it runs the best.
I run a 155 and 42 with a 35mm carb on my 2000 220, but I'm running at over 5000 feet.

A 160 is way fat for a 200 too!

A 155 or 152 is a better bet for a 35mm carb.

Really what it means is that your combustion temperature is too low, and that's a byproduct of a too-rich mixture.
