Bike Found...

Hey all,

Just found a 1998 KX500 that is coming on the market. I would like the front end, he is asking 1400 for it. Is is worth parting this bike out just to get the front end or is a shim, spacer, press worth doing on a newer KX front end for my fork conversion? My KDX is a 2006.

Thanks for your direction.

Any idea what shape the motor is in? I might be interested in that and the wiring harness.

Have you upgraded the springs and done the shim stack mod on your stock forks?

I've upgraded the springs for my weight but am unaware of the shim stack mod... please do tell.

The engine just had a top end done 3 rides ago.

Super easy. You will need to remove the valve in the bottom of the fork leg. You will need a 14mm allen head for it.
When the valve is out there are 10 little shims that you have in the valve. You pull two then reassamble. Make the fork much more plush.
Here is a link to the other KDX forum that expalins it all.

I just did it to my bike, while I changed the springs and everything apart
