Recently bought a used 2004 200. Was planning servicing the front brake but the phillips screws on the master cylynder which attache the top (area to add fluid) are stripped. Unable to remove them with and impact screwdriver.

Any suggestions?

Unable to purchage the master bowl separately - need to purchase entire assay for around $160. I would like to avoid doing that.

Got it off, Thanks for the help! Drilled it so that a flat head would grip it - and it amazingly worked! Hope I can find an allen screw to replace it.

They don't use phillips head screws.

If you use a phillips head screwDRIVER on it..that's the problem.

It's closer to a Frearson.

Fact is, I don't know what it is..but it's not a phillips. I thought they were Reed-Prince.

Something that I've often used on a messed up crosspattern head is a torx..a hardened torx for impact use, a bit bigger'n the messed up hole. tap it in for a bite of metal, use a manual impact.

Which, btw, EVERY tool box should have. They're cheap, they WILL save your bacon on a LOT of screws!

Never thought of using a torx.
I actually have that same impact driver, but the screw was in marginal condition when I got started, and the #2 phillips head just made it worse.

Just got a replacement screw today and plan on using anti seize.

Need to add some brake fluid..........Is there a line to fill the master cylinder to, or just to the top of the window?

Not the top of the window...else when you put the bladder in you'll have brake fluid all over the place.

ALways use your impact on those screws..on any other screws you can reach with it, too. Use it on your new screws to lessen the damage that WILL occur if you use a phillips screwdriver.

There aren't nearly as many panheads/screws on the KDX as there are on some other machines, thankfully.
