miniumum # of clutch shims

Post by kdx633 »

02 220 original clutch.Shifting starting to get "notchy". lever angle 65 to 70 degrees.I pulled cover and found only 1 shim on actuator. Manual suggest's up to 2 shims may be added but does not specify if any must used.Any one else familiar with this have a suggestion

Notchy feeling generally comes from grooving on the clutch basket fingers...Where the tangs of the discs meet the basket. You can file them to clean it up a bit...If you're not doing clutch job, put plates back in the same way they came out.

1. What fuzzy said.

2. None must be used. I don't use one.

How do you propose FEWER shims (reduced effective pack thickness) to help?
