Kick Starter Nut

I lost the kick starter nut on my 2003 KDX 200. I have one on order but it hasn't come in yet and I'm doing a big ride tomorrow. Anyone know where I can land one of these in a pinch?

I went to Home Depot and Lowes with no luck. I can get a 12mm nut but the pitch is too coarse.

Does anyone know the actual dimensions of this nut?

It's the nut that holds the entire KS assembly to the shaft.

Thanks!

I noticed mine was missing on my way out to ride. I stopped off at a NAPA store and they let me take a few of their grade-8 nuts out to the bike and find the right one. Sorry, can't remember the specs. use loctite. it's been on for years now.

This is really  Jerry rigged but!!! in a worse case scenario you can get a small band clamp the kind that on like small rad hoses and tighten it up on there i've done this in the past to some atvs i've had that was kick start and it will hold till ya get the rite nut!!!

I thought of a similar idea with safety wire or plumbers tape but I didn't want to damage the threads. I got the right nut last night. Bring on the trails!

That's a really good short term solution- there's NO outward force on the k-starter, all you have to do is keep the splines engaged.

If you use a threadlocking agent, make sure you keep it away from the splines!

I know why that matters 'cuz I didn't....
