Why not?

As a matter of fact..I think that tonight when I'm done pressing the last piece I need for my homemade Ferrari, I'll retool and pop out a few KDX head gaskets!

Uh...everybody DOES have one'a these, right?

I reuse mine 1 time.
I coat them with copper coat spray before the second install and
have never had any problems.

That makes em 1/2 price

If you use Kopper Kote, probably a good idea to clean the excess off the water jacket restrictor part of the head gasket else you will get little pieces of Kopper Kote floating around in the coolant.

Best place to find 'em? Stuck to the inner seal gasket of your radiator cap. Don't know 'bout anyone else, but the only thing I want sticking to that gasket surface is nothing.

Seems to stick pretty good, never had any floaties in the cooling system
that I have seen and if there were the amount would be so minimal it wouldn't hurt nothing anyway.
Plus, after the original gasket is crushed under torque it helps fill any
voids on the gasket being reused.

But, If had a fancy press factory like yours CC I wouldn't be using copper coat.

yeh no one likes a smart ass cc!
im a sheet metal worker and worked with copper sheet alot.
even 0.6 mm copper sheet would work!
please tell me why it wouldnt just so i know!
as for the giant press, why do u need that to punch out flimsy metal shims?

I'm sure you wouldn't have any problem with making one. Heck..make a bunch of 'em and sell them on ebay!

You might have found your niche in life!

Isn't that great!

If an 8000HP 496inch KB motor can use copper shim gaskets, I s'pose that might just work for a KDX.

yeh i will but im just wanting to know why you think it wouldnt work?

I don't think that was ever written... :hmm:

It has nothing to do with why I think it wouldn't work. It has to do with the ability of most to make such a gasket. If you can..then..why not?

The cylinder pressures in that KB motor are far greater than anything the KDX is ever going to see..it's water cooled..and I promise that after every run the pit crew doesn't reach into their Cometic Gasket Bin to grab a new gasket when they put a new set of rings on their eight pistons.

The .6mm stock you mentioned (.024") is probably a good bit thicker than an OEM gasket. The resultant loss (if it is thicker) of combustion pressure wouldn't be doing you any favors...but if you can use something of a similar thickness to the designed head gasket, if you ensure the mating surfaces are as finely matched as that KB motor..there isn't any reason it wouldn't work just fine.

Sarcasm: a definition..

A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound.

A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.

:hmm:

I'm sure that's around here somewheres...but not on this thread.
