Did a search but could'nt find anything on this.I was looking at oem part numbers for clutch baskets, and KX125 and KDX200 have the same part number.Has anyone used or know if the KX will fit the KDX200,it looks like there is no aftermarket clutch basket made for the KDX.

Thanks

If the OEM part number is the same for the two, I'd say they were the same part.
I havn't found any aftermarket baskets for a KDX either.

I thought Hinson made a basket for the KDX, but I could be wrong.

Have you heard that recently? Some months back they told me they didn't have any more...I thought. I may well be mistaken about that.....

Keep in mind that a Hinson basket, whereever it comes from (if new) will NOT have the gear attached. You need to grind the rivets off your basket to get the gear off and use the screws that come with the Hinson to put it back on.

At least ASK the vendor to know whether they've done the gear swap already or not. If Fredette charges $200, I very much doubt he's put a gear on it for you. Not at that price.

If your isolator rubbers are toast..you might be in trouble, as they are NOT available as a separate part from Kaw.

Fredette did have some of those. Not new ones, but 'good' used ones.

IF the choice is a Hinson or new OEM...seems a hands down choice to me..even if you DO have to fuss with the gear. Get the correct Loctite/Permatex threadlocker (there's a lot more to it that what color it is) and some activator (from the same outfit that makes the threadlock) for some added confidence the fasteners won't come loose.

If you find the KX basket fits, let us know!

You can only file a basket a couple of times...then it's time for a new one!

Those folks are in New Zealand. I'm going to NZ in 3 weeks and plan on being there for about a month. If interested, I could see about getting some while I'm there. I don't need one but wouldn't mind helping someone or a few out.
BTW, the exchange rate is good on the U.S. side;
Right now, that clutch at $265 NZ is $196.68 US dollars. I don't know about any taxes though, but shipping costs are REALLY high. I'd say it would cost at least $50 to ship one clutch basket based on my personal experience mailing stuff to my family over there.

What are you guys talking about?! I would just put the clutch baskets in my luggage.

Had a proper look only after I posted and they are made by Mitaka. Never heard of them. Can pick one up off flebay for $150 new. What do you guys think about the quality? Last thing I want is a clutch basket in a million pieces through the gearbox!
Have been thinking about the KX125 one from hinson, maybe it would fit, but have been wondering if it is possibly weaker to be lighter for the KX so not strong enough for the KDX? :hmm:

Are there any other aftermarket ones, had a look around and had no luck. Wounder how much longer a stock one will last if I have it anodized.

I know nothing about 'em..haven't heard anything about 'em.

Hinson is the only A/M unit I'm aware of.

I think YOU should get one..write up a review for the rest of us!

I do suppose it would be easier to shove the clutch parts up your....as opposed to putting them in your luggage FIRST and then placing THAT internally.

Maybe he doesn't get it 'cuz he doesn't see there would be any difference. :hmm:

I could probably sand cast one in my garage that's better than the stock one so this one has to be fine. Kudos for the NZ company manufacturing this.
