white radiator shrouds - OEM or aftermarket 2001 KDX220

Post by barryadam »

OK, I've looked all over and can't seem to find any in white.
What years did KAW have white?
What range of years are the same fitment?
Anyone have any leads for aftermarket ones in white?

Daughter's 1999 has OEM white shrouds. I think they look better than the green on son's 2001. Just my opinion.
But OEM price is like $65 ea. Don't know if that includes graphic.
If I can find some cheaper ones, I might replace the cracked and scuffed ones on the bike(s).
Then again, they'll probably just fall and break as soon as I put them on.

Umm, jury's still out for me. They are Dunlop 803's with 4 rides on them. After the ride at a local dry lakebed surrounded by big hills (2-300 ft) of sharp shale-like rock, all the center lugs are developing a crack at the root on the leading edge. Haven't figured out why yet. The second bike (1999) only has one ride on the Dunlop and it was in the muddy stuff.
I'll be watching these closely each ride.

The traction and handling is fantastic. Really a different feel from the knobbies. And no problem in the mud, although it's hardly what most of you would call mud.

I think the X-11's got a better review than the Dunlops... I read reports of 1100+ miles out of them vs 6-800 miles on a knobby. I would like them because I wouldn't worry so much about riding hard pack wearing them out. It would make for a smoother ride....

Have a friend that uses the trials on his KTM in the summer only and loves them. But, the mud gets too much for them in the winter so he goes back to a knob. I know one thing, follow'n him with a trials tires is great. They only throw smaller ballistic objects.

Yeah, that's one of the first things we noticed.
Plus they are soft like a pencil eraser.
