yeah these pics were taken a month or so ago. bought an airbox, seat, forks, exhaust, and an unbelievably mint tank on ebay already, stuff was pretty cheap. already had some extra white universal fenders, good bars, and other parts around.2FAST wrote:Look's like you will not be bored for a whille now but all in all the frame and motor looks pretty good some fender's ~~ air box and a seat and blast the tank clean and you will be in business as goes look's.Does it run or turn over?

yeah, in mad max the guy riding it had a mohawk!NewMexico505 wrote:I saw that bike in one of those Mad Max movies. oh and I saw my blue pliers on the garage floor....
What year is that? 1985? They are fun but a little heavy...
sorry dude, i meant to give you those pliers back...
it's another '81, i have a few xr's. the old ones are heavy pigs but still fun to ride. my '84 has disc on front, this pig is still a drum! the forks were completely gone, barely even budged, seals hanging out, triples bent and frozen, and the front brake cable was frozen. and this guy was still jumping it!!

So NewMex just helps himself to my garage does he??
So, what did the wifey say? At least she knows where you are at night and it's not tom cattin' around chasing some strange either, now is it!! HHAAA!!!
I also like how every tool is adjustable; pliers, wrenches, etc. Not a socket, box or open wrench in site. Kinda reminds me of carvr's garage! Hoot!!
Cheers and lets see more photos as it comes together!
BTW, I think you should have been paid more than $50 to haul that away. YOu did get paid $50 right? You didn't............ don't tell us you PAID someone $50 for that thing?!? Ohforcryingoutloud!!!!!!!!!!

yep, i paid $50 alright... this bike was on craigslist for $350 obo for so long i got tired of seeing it. so technically i paid $50 for the guy to delete the post!

That's a good story! I've tried to lowball some deals but so far all I ever get replies back on is stuff I really didn't want in the first place.
Recently did just that on some garage cabinets. I lowballed the asking price of $3500 for a complete garage full of new cabinets/workbenches/etc. a total of 40+feet of them for $900 PLUS I told him I had no way of moving them and could he deliver. He just replied to my e-mail and said O.K.!! Ha! Now what am I going to do with ALL those cabinets!!
****EDIT****
BTW, now, don't take this as an insult or anything, but.....
you look like a cleaned up version of Wibby. Ha!!

some people really get mad at lowballing... i buy and sell quite a few bikes. recently, i ran an ad on craigslist, to buy non-running bikes, up to $1000 paid in cash. some guy emailed, had an '86 honda 500 (i think, it was small) roadracer. didn't run. cracked fairings. badly weathered. i offered him $250, which i thought was pretty generous. he got really pissed off and said the ad was for $1000 and said a whole bunch of bad crap. go figure.
i like lowballs, when i am selling, because it is the START of negotiations!
conversely, i have had people give me stuff for the hauling. just wanna be rid of it. and once i bought 2 1/2 kawa vulcan 750's for something like $200. some people are nuts one way, think their old rusty crap is gold. and some are nuts the other way, just get it outta here! man, i don't get rich at scrapping bikes. doesn't even pay for my own biking hobby. but i enjoy it, keeps me outta trouble, and love to buy, sell, haul, ride, jump, burn out, putt, and cruise all sorts of bikes. always have, always will.
insult??? i have never seen wibby's pics... but he must be ONE SEXY BEAST!!!
