OK... been down this road before... my last cam was a PIA!
Found this all-in-wonder helmet cam for a decent price and thinking about jumping on it...
Anybody use this particular unit?

I saw some footage from a guy posting info about his helmet cam on Thumper talk.
The cam was made by
http://www.vio-pov.com/products.php?ct=di
Very expensive but the footage was the best I have seen. I have not researched this yet so I would really appreciate if more people would post there knowledge about the best cam to get.

I was actually a tester for their first helmet cam.... worked well but the recording devices of the time were all analog and very susceptable to vibration. Nothing like strapping on a Camcorder to your back!
Still have the camera but even it uses a external power pack.
Just sick of all the remote items.... I want a 1 in all camera recorder now. Another thing you have to remember too is the better the picture the more it sucks battery life. The highest rated cameras get really dinged on battery life and that is a major concern when your out in the middle of nowhere.
The best overall rated Helmet Cam is the ATC3K for battery life, vibration resistance, being waterproof, SD card capacity and have decent quality picture. Sound sucks on most of them and really I wish you could turn the sound recorder off if you wanted too. It just eats footage time and battery life but you never know when something funny will be said by your buddy who just looped his bike.

Good info. I definately can see the plus and minuses with each type system. Really liked the super wide angle of the POV camera but I also dont like to carry stuff on my back. I just use a small fanny pack for water.
I did not even think about the battery issue but that makes more sense.
Thanks again for the info. I will be curious to see what you get and what you recommend. Thanks for posting.

That one is a big battery eater! On top of that... it's kinda sits out there waiting to be batted off by a branch....
Battery life on it is like 1 hour..... crazy!
Here is a good informational video review of current offerings....

The one in that video I haven't even considered is the Tachyon XC
Looks like very decent unit. A little bigger but has decent battery life, a huge SD capacity of up to 32GB and great picture quality! And all for right about $150
Definately in the running now... Website is here...
http://www.tachyoninc.com/main.html
Damn fine footage... Best I have seen!

Nice Helmet Mount too!
I think we have a winner....

Not sure how the footage will be, but it is pretty small, i think. Doesnt look as heavy and bulky as the one posted above.

Here's is what a ATC2K's video is like...
Too pixelly for me.... You Tube is always going to be the best true vision of what the footage is like....

I have the atkc, for the price it's ok. sound can be turned off.
The tachyon footage looks REALLY good, almost TOO good and makes me wonder if this really was the camera they use. For the price, defenitely a winner, especially since you can record on bigger sd card. The atk 2 can only record 1 hour max with a 2gig sd. I tried a 4 gig but it doesn't work at all.
Let us know how it works out, you'll be the guinea pig

Mine works ok when it's on
Problem is it won't stay on, dunno why??
Either the batteries move enough to lose contact or the SD card gets jiggled
You think you been recording all this awesome **** only to find the piece of crap turned off

I stuffed some money in mine
But I think it is the SD card that wiggles loose
I don't think any cam set-up is going to work to well with me
I move my head where ever it is I'm looking, makes for really crappy video
I've tried mounting camera to bike but then it just picks up all sorts of vibrations
