Output Shaft play

Hi all,
I'm done with my case split/reassembly but now I wonder if it's normal to have a small play in the output shaft ?

Just before I reinstall the sproket I noticed that I can push the shaft into the case, just enough to make it difficult to install the clip that hold the sproket in place..

1. the case had no oil in it
2. the O-rings and collar was there
3. There's no more play with the sproket and clip in place...

Also, does your bike shift into the taller gears when motor is off? Put the bike on a stand and rotate the rear tire while shifting tough the gears. Should shift fairly easy. Then start the bike and try it again while on the stand. Let me know what happens.

I try it and with motor off, everything worked fine.

2x that's why there's an "S" at o-rings

But except the bearing, everything was fine...

Yep. And there would be an 's' at the end of o-rings if you used three of 'em.

...which has been done. Quite recently, too. Not exactly on purpose. The placement of those o-rings is odd, them being side by side.

Hence...they could easily have been installed incorrectly.

We'll really know this spring, there's too much snow at the moment, but with the skipro3's test I can say that everything seems normal now.

Not to beat a too dead horse...but I would appreciate it if you would clear this part up for me:

That his question from that post is quoted on THIS thread with a response of, 'I try it and with motor off, everything worked fine.' does mean it works NOW (but not with the engine running).

What I'm getting to is this: That it shifts fine sitting on a bike stand NOW has no bearing whatsoever on what it would have done before you took it apart..because that 'test' process wasn't done then. There is nothing to compare it to.

If ski's test didn't work before..and it does now..that would be a point of interest.

Hope you update this thread when you get some dirt on the tires. It would be good to hear that it's all better when you shove all those KDX ponies through the transmission.

There is nothing to compare it to.

You're right CC, and I waited until most of the snow melt..
I just came back from a nice test ride

I test it about 1h30 in dirt, sand, snow and on some ice... and on the road.
Everything about the transmission work really well.
