Tusk Drain Plug

Post by kingsxjt »

Bought a magnetic drain plug from Rocky Mtn. made by Tusk. Installed fine, but changed my oil this weekend and the thing snapped off in my crankcase (only the 2nd time it had been torqued)! :uh: It did pick up some trash which was cool, but it was disconcerting getting it out after it broke. I use a torque wrench at 14.5 ft/lbs everytime. Anyway called Rocky Mtn. and they credited my account no problem. Needless to say I put the stocker back in. The tusck appeared to made of aluminum, but there were no special torque specs with the packaging. Anyway, just thought ya'll would like to know.

thanks, I have a few Tusk items that I like a lot, like their bar guards and tools. too bad about the plug. maybe this should go in the product review section too.

Dang. Sorry to hear of your bad luck. Thank you for reporting your experiences with it. I wondered if those kind of plugs would pick up anything.

I always install magnetic drain plugs in our bikes. I've been buying the MOOSE brand the last 5-6 years and so far have had good luck.

is it aluminum with a steel insert maybe? that would explain the breakage.
