Maxima 927 2 cycle oil
Maxima 927 2 cycle oil
What are most people running for mixing ratio's with Maxima 927 ?
I'm going to break in the motor on dino oil and then switch to this.
Is 40:1 a reasonable mixture ?

Me too!!! I think the 927 is really good stuff. Top end looked nice after a season. Some like the smell of the castor oil but my girlfriend and riding buddy used to complain. Also, castor oil can gum up your powervalve. It protects really good but not a great oil for just short shifting and lugging.
The Amsoil has a lower burn temp - more suited for my old guy lugging style. But . . . both are really good oils.

WR sold. Now have 03 and 04 KDX 220s.
KXF 250 forks. RB Carb and Head. FMF rev pipe. Long live the KDX !!!

Yes and no. Jet properly, and you can generally run whatever mix you want. DOn't go mixing at 50+:1, IMHO. 40:1 is 'bout perfect. I like 32:1, but have run 24:1 just fine, and I think 12:1 might be a hassle in the woods :D Jetting is the #1 thing you can learn to be aquainted with your bike, and any other bowl/slide carb'd bike you come accross after that. The KDX is faily tolerant to carburation so it's a great motor to learn on.
Maxima 927 is a castor blend and personally I like pure synthetic for woods stuff. I would consider this a great MX blend. High rpm desert I'd run pure castor at 24:1min with a purge after. No castor needed in the woods....Especially if you're not jetted right...It will make a mess. As mentioned it will sit in your PV and 'cook.' Pure castor (mixed heavy) will make the most power, but this is only at high-rpm that it's noticeable.
