If anyone knows where to find some, I am interested. Would also be interested in a nice used set.

From what Works Connections said, they are no longer in production.

Devol makes the rad. guard option. I have used the guards for a few years and they are pretty good but they restrict air flow.

Well I found a website that list the kdx in the works connection rad braces... Going to place the order and if they dont have them then I will go from there. It was one of the links from kdxrider

I had the Works Connection rad braces on my '97 220 and I thought they were OK. They are not very substantial and I thing if you took a good spill in rocks, they would help, but not prevent damage to the radiators.

I have run the Devol guards before and I thought they were great, but they do prevent air flow for sure. I've only had my KDX get to boiling once, but that was after following my son on his XR70 for 2 hrs.

I run the Devol guards with the the OEM plastic louvers zip tied to them. Since I put the plastic louvers on them I have had zero problems with overheating. I tried the MSR + Works brace option on my previous KDX and had the same overheating issues as with the Devols. It would help if the rad shrouds on the KDX stuck out a little more to catch more air. My CR250 and my bro's YZ250 have no issues with the Devols, but the shrouds stick out scooping more air.

Hey skythrasher, would you please post a picture of what you did. I like the idea of using the plastic louvers and the devol guard. Maybe I could find somebody handy to weld a tab on top of the guard to install the plastic.

Does your front fender hit the plastic when turning. Sound like there is enough clearance.

Thanks for your time,

Steve

Sweet. Thanks for posting the picture. Thats what I am going to do. I might even cut some of the material out of the devol guard to increase air flow. Good idea. Thanks for your time in posting.

The Devol guards cover the sides and have a piece that runs behind them back to the frame for bracing. IMO they are the best guard on the market for the KDX. I would not worry about removing any material from them, I don't think you will have a problem.

Devols offer side protection. Basically its a cage the covers around your radiator. Because the radiator overflow bottle prevents a perfect mount on the right side, its my opinion that the left side is slighty stronger. But I have crash tested both sides a few times an no damage yet. Except for the over heating issue - which has only been a issue a few times - I would not hesitate using them.

CHRIS-1742,

I put the plastic back on the Devol guards to channel more airflow to the rads. I was having minor overheating issues with just the Devol's. Don't under estimate how much flow those plastic pieces diredt to the coolers. The shrouds just aren't shaped to get great airflow without the louvers.

After a long search, I found WC Rad braces. The vendor says the braces are labeled to fit 95-01. Correct me if I'm wrong but since they fit the '01 they should fit my '03 200 right? Thanks!
