220 carb on 200 ,,, 200 carb on 220

We have both an 05 KDX220 and a 06 KDX200 .
My son rides the 200 , but is only 14 and not very aggressive.
Should I consider switching the carbs between the two bikes ?

You would need to then re-jet both bikes. There would be quite a bit of time involved, and the net result probably would not be worth it. I'd think the best bet would be to trade bikes for a while. Put a FWW and 12t front sprocket on the 220 and let him ride that.

I thought the jetting was just about identical.

What I was looking for is more snap out of the 220 I ride without
cripling the power of the 200.

Whats a FWW ?

Flywheel weight. $100.

I think your idea is a good one....Getting them jetted right probably won't take much, and is something both you and your son should know how to do anyway. You're not going to be into slide/needle changes/etc, just pilot/main adjustments. The 33mm carb will weaken the 200 (mostly all top-end, will probably gain bottom), and the 35mm will wake up your 220 everywhere.

All true, :). I still think you should just swap bikes though :P
