I just measured 20 links on my chain and got 13 inches. The Service Manual says the service limit is 12.71 (sorry to all the metric folk)...
First question: It's an O-ring chain. Did a 2003 KDX200 come with an O-Ring? That'll tell me the PO changed the chain since I know the sprockets have been changed; 13/45 on there now with very new teeth.
Second question: 45 on the back, smaller circumference means less chain needed right? Should I stick with the 520/108 and if so will that leave me with less adjustment room?
Feel free to recommend some chains: stick with O or go X?
Thanks!

200 never came with a ring chain.the 220 did.
smaller rear sproket would equal less chain, but its easy enough to shorthen to a requiredlength.

Re: 'Feel free to recommend some chains: stick with O or go X?'
Power required to spin a 'sticking' chain is wasted power. It takes more power to turn an 'O' than an 'X'.
If the choice has already been made to run a ringed chain, 'X' is generally considered the better choice (over 'O').
..or some similarly modified ring-type chain.

Where he really wants you to go:
HERE!
That's true, too. I doubt you'll find a single supercrosser running a ringed chain of any sort. If I was going to have someone else pay for (and do the work) a new final drive setup after every ride, I wouldn't run a ringed chain, either.
There are some jaycrackers that will insist that a good quality NON-ringed chain will last just as long as a ringed chain...with proper care and maintenace. I wouldn't argue that point...but neither am I willing to expend the time and trouble that their idea of proper maintenance requires.

Both links go to the same thing
yours is just fancier and you haves more time to kill in your orifice
Been running that 40 dolla D.I.D. non o ring chain for quite awhile now
It's kink free
Wish I could run a non o ring on my vstrom, I think they are a waste of money, and they sure don't last long before they get all fuggin kinked up
