Electrical - Magneto Question
I'm in the process of researching rewiring and cleaning up my 95 KDX200, today I went out to the garage to check out what was there after another forum posting gave me some ideas. Anyhow, in my manual from the magneto it lists the wires as Y, BK, W/R but on mine there is BK, W/R, Y and a white. Anyone know what's going on there? Maybe the previous owner put in a new magneto? Thanks.

Pull the rotor and take a look.
Generally the lighting coil is grounded at one end AT the stator. It doesn't have to be. Maybe one of those wires is ground for the lighting coil.
The igniter/exciter spark driver has two wires going to the spark control module.
Simple enough to know what's going on with a quick look-see. There's a good chance you can tell from the way the wires are routed if you just take the cover off.
A meter would be a big help, too. You don't need a $100 Fluke...a $5 Harbor Freight meter will work just fine.
