Weird Tire Size in Rear

Just purchased an 01 KDX220 a few months ago and the rear tire is trashed. I did some research on the forums about size and brand and most people recommend a 110/100/18. I currently have a 140/80/18 mounted from the previous order and according to these forums, that should be impossible. So now I'm thinking maybe it is a different size wheel? What do you guys think? Go ahead and get a 110/100/18 and I should be fine?

Thanks for any input!

An 80 or 90 aspect ratio tire is measured from the outside of the nobs instead of sidewall to sidewall like the 100 aspect ratio tire is. This makes a 140/80-18 approx the same as a 120/100-18. I agree with Wibbs a wore out 140/80 tire would fit no problem. I think you could probably find a 140/80 tire with a nob pattern that would clear but it would be the exception clearance wise.

I run a 120/80/18 M5B on my KDX

I compared it with a 130/80/18 M5B

Both off the rim, side by side the 130 was probably 1.5 - 2" taller

I don't know how accurate a comparison as such would be. One would have to be carefull to make sure that the sidewalls were equally compressed or that could cause a difference in height. I however ran into a similar thing when I replaced the rear stock tire on my daughters XR80 with a cheap Cheng Shin C755. The tire was marked as exactly the same size however the knobs were so much taller I had to add a link to the chain and use up most of the chain adjustment. Width was not a problem.
