QUOTE carb:plug removed to see that at least the bowl bottom is clean and that the main jet is a 160

Things gumed up pretty good on my 200 with the original 160 main
jet in it. The kips moved slow just like the bike did.
When it was gummed up it took a few seconds to close after opening.

I would pull the bowl off the carb and check the pilot also and see
if it has ever been jetted.
That 160 sounds pretty fat even at the temps we have now.
Check your compression, 135-150 clean the kips and jet it.
It will be much improved.

Im with Wibbs, my bike has some go up top.

Another thought: Is there 1 or 2 copper washers on the screw that holds the spring and ball for the kips ?

That's a trick question!!! Of course there's only one..I mean, why would there be TWO?

Good question, though........

One the 1 or 2 washers, I think mine came with 2
but if it had none that would make it more difficult to move.

My above comment was tongue-in-cheek. I thought the phrasing of your question ('..one..or two?) was particularly well done, figuring you to know the answer to the question but not wanting to imply the correct answer.

I amuse myself with some strange things, 'eh?

Parts diagram shows two:

Image

This is my understanding of 'things':

There was a time that Fredette recommended putting in an 'extra' washer there to reduce the tension on the detent ball. A cylinder I sent to FRP for a replate/port job came back with two washers in that position.

I thought he had put an 'extra' washer there...there being TWO of 'em.

An assumption on my part.

I found other OEM cylinders to also have two washers on that bolt.
Gee. I figured a whole lot of people must be copying the FRP setup!!

For whatever reason I was later looking at the above diagram...and noticed the TWO washers present in an OEM configuration.

Huh? How could I have an EXTRA one if there are two to START with?

I called Fredette (maybe it was an email), asked him about it. He said he used to put a extra washer in that spot, but came to the conclusion it didn't accomplish anything, so stopped doing it.

See what happens when there's '...too much assumin' goin' on!!'???

..and it's SO easy to do!!
