Does anyone know if this radiator tab is suppose to be straight or bent like it is? Im thinking its bent but I dont know for sure and need to know before it goes for powder coating.

You're asking about the lower left rad frame tab...right? Mine is bent...but NOT bent quite as symmetrically as is yours. Seeing as both my rads have a bit of smush to 'em, I don't think mine is a good guide. BUT...seeing as the bend mine DOES have is quite different from yours, my vote is that you are correct..yours is bent.

How's THAT for scientific discovery at its best?

The more close-ups I take of my bike, the more I'm convinced that SOMEone needs to clean it up! Arrgghhhh....

BUT...if you straighten it will it still cozy up to the rad as it should......they likely came to this shape through a little mutual 'crush' activity.

So...if it fits NOW....why ya wanna mess with it..anyhow??

Usually in a crash I try to throw my body under the bike so that I can cushion it's impact with the ground. I assumed everyone did that.

'Cuz when he puts it all back together with his newly straightened radiators, he's going to want them to fit!

Re: 'I assumed...'

That's too advanced a technique for me! I have cushioned my bike's fall a number of times..but only after it's crashed into a tree and done a cartwheel or two down a hill to land on top of me.

Maybe if I 'insert myself' sooner...it won't be so pissed at me as to pounce quite so hard?

RE Radiator straightening
Why bother if it isn't too bent.....you only add to the stresses (IMHO) by bending it back and *trying* to make it straight again.

CC: I had somehow overlooked the part where he had already straightened out his bent radiators. I always thought, dumb as I am, that it mattered MOST that they fit together.

Now....flame away!! Lotssa rain falling to keep me from burnin up!!

Re: 'I had somehow overlooked the part where he had already straightened out his bent radiators.'

You wouldn't go to the trouble of stripping a bike to the frame, getting the frame powdercoated and then putting it all back together with smushed radiators.....would 'ya?

Sooo...that was a PREsumption on my part. Couldn't have been an ASSumption, 'cuz we know what happens when THAT happens.....

I guess that would depend on what "smushed" means to each of us.

But, I wouldn't be too worried about 'some' smushiness-in-me-rads.......long as I don't see excessive 'kinkieness'!!

Is there such a thing as excess in kinkieness??

That said, me-thinks you've strayed awful close to a ASSumption with your PREsumption!!

HaW!!
