Rear brake lever . . . . . Loose?
Hey guys....on my '05 the rear brake lever has some play in it (from side to side, not in the hydraulic actuation). It seems that the retaining bolt is tightened all the way, but there's still a little slop. Am I missing a washer or something? Do they all do that? thanks... Oh, and my kickstand has some slop in it too, it's mounted up nice and tight, I guess is it supposed to have a little play in it??

Yes... they have to have play in them... they are not riding on bearings...

waking this up.....play is getting worse. I guess the sleeve in the lever is just "wollowing" out.
Nothing to do but buy a new lever huh? OEM? Is thier an aftermarket that's better?
Thx . . . . .

I doubt an aftermarket would be any better. It is more of a design issue.
The post on the frame that the pedal pivots on gets worn out of round, the inside of the lever does the same.
On a previous bike I grafted a KX style lever on after badly mangling the KDX one. I cut the KDX post off and welded the KX post on in its place. The KX assembly uses an aluminum lever and has o-rings and seals in the pivot to keep grease in. That was fine until I snapped the KX aluminum lever; the KDX lever is steel and can be straightened out multiple times.
A stiffer return spring will help keep the slopiness less irritating.
There are a number of options for a better kickstart lever.
