Keeping quads out?
What do you guys find works to keep quad riders out of single track?
I'll give you some background.
Near my house there is about 2 square miles of land that is bound by a highway on one side, swamp on another and for whatever reason has not been developed yet.
The land has 4 or 5 miles of jeep trail running around on it.
Over the years my riding buddies and I have cut about 20 miles of single track on it. We do what we can to keep where it crosses the jeep trails inconspicuous and keep it so tight that a quad will not fit.
They have tried to push through in sections anyway. Usually going the wrong way, knocking trees down and going around stuff they can't fit between.
Over the past month or so I have put in a one mile section from my backyard, up and around some old single track that we had abanded, some new really tight twisty stuff, back in to the road near my house. It wasn't a week old and some jackass went pushing through a section and had to turn around and come back. Made a mess. I think I know who it is and I will find him and have a word with him.
I do wonder if you guys who (god forbid) ride quads know of a quad repellant?

Have some pics perchance?
Otherwise, being happy and all...I have nothing to say 'bout it.
Seriously...we ride quads in the sand..where they are 'supposed' to be..and on managed systems designed for them. I don't care much for 4-wheelers that goober single track. What do do about it? Buy the land..then shoot 'em.

Good one! Ha!
Other than narrow gates, about the only thing I've seen keep quads out is terrain they can't navigate in. For example, if you start a single track, make the access trail along the side of a hill, if possible. Nearly all the single track I ride is not accessible to quads, but much of it is along hilly terrain and pretty technical.

I'm sure that not all quad riders are the same.
When they tear up single track they all look alike to me, though.
Around here, the primary purpose of the quad seems to be to carry the beer out to the nearest mudhole and wallow back and forth.
That's fine, doesn't bother anyone.
Kind of a tough thing to get pictures of, seems to me.

I see more single track torn up by two wheelers around here
The majority of BAD quad riders usually have 5 friends and only one quad, so they seldom leave eyesight of the staging area. They also seem to have some inability to pick up after themselves

Find where they left their truck and torch it. They won't be coming back any time soon.
O.K., O.K., maybe a little extreme. Maybe just slit all 4 tires and jerk the wires off the plugs. Leave them stranded. Then call the rangers and report them riding illegal. They will still be there when ranger rick arrives.
Now, where's that photo I have with Brad so pissed at quads he can't even speak?!?
Wib has a Wibette? DUDE!!!
